Wallflower (wall·flow·er)
Definition
- One who does not participate in the activity at a social event because of shyness or unpopularity.
- A lady at a ball, who, either from choice, or because not asked to dance, remains a spectator.
As the term suggests, I shy away from a lot of things, parties and balls/dances being top 1 and top 2 respectively.
I'm a small girl you won't probably notice in a crowd. On top of that, I'm a natural klutz, the holder of a seemingly record-breaking list of misplaced items, an amateur anything, and an over-thinker who oftentimes lets her head rule her heart.
I'm still normal okay, don't get me wrong. haha... I'm a kid at heart who is easily pleased with simple things. One who carries a pinch of optimism, a tinkling of charm, and loads of laughs. I'm still trying to find my place in this vast expanse, but I'm having tons of fun along the way.
I'll find that light someday, I'm sure! But for now, I'll slow things down a bit and enjoy the ride.
My life's not the most spectacular thing that you'll come across, but it's worth a look :)

3 GUYS OFF MY LIST IN THIS MONTH ALONE. Why did the turnover rate of guys in my lame excuse for a love life suddenly speed up by 10 times? This is seriously stupid.
Before I start ranting away how my love life has seemed to hit an all-time low, let me present you with a checklist I've never really written down, only mentioned, until today. It's a list of the qualities of my ideal guy.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves (most important first)    • Is he a worthy Priesthood holder? (specifically the Word of Wisdom)    • Am I at ease when I'm around him? (includes sense of humor)    • Is he a gentleman?    • Is he mature? (I'm the eldest of 3, no more big babies please)    • Is he smart?    • Is he masipag? (hard working)    • Does he speak English FLUENTLY?    • Is he physically fit?    • Kaya ba niya akong kontrahin? (doesn't become the underdog)    • Does he text nicely? (I'm OC and I HATE sticky caps) The big bonuses (most impressive first)    • Does he have any talent in the arts?    • Can he write well?    • Is he a good leader?    • Does he have a good speaking voice?    • Does he look good?    • Does he dress well?    • Can he play any sport? The big questions (all of equal importance)    • Do I think we look good together?    • Can you imagine yourself holding this guy’s hand?    • Can he ride on with my friends?    • Can you actually introduce this guy to your parents?
In short, I want a guy who's kinda like my ultimate idol, my dad :) I'm really proud of my dad and I'd hate to disappoint him with a bad choice in men. haha!
BEFORE YOU GO ON READING... I'd like to clarify just one thing. It's a given that many of us ladies want romantic guys. You know, the type who isn't "afraid" of chick flicks or crying his eyes out. It's a given and ladies LOVE that, so I didn't put it in the list anymore. I don't want an overly-cheesy guy though. haha~
Okay, shall we begin? *deep breath*
Guy #1: The Clueless Actually I'm the one who's clueless because I don't know why I even liked him in the first place. The thing with this guy is I only like him when I see him. When I don't, the feelings just vanish. I can name plenty (believe me, plenty) of things that should automatically cross him out of my list for good, but there's just something about this guy that I'm drawn to. I repeat: only when I see him. When I don't, he's just another guy.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: Needs work. A lot of it.    • Maturity: Not so much.    • Gentleman: Okay naman.    • At ease: Definitely :)    • Smart: No clue. Only that he's taking a computer course.    • Masipag: He looks lazy, pero malay mo naman diba.    • English: No. He knows a bit though.    • Physically fit: I think so.    • Kayang mangontra: I think he can :))    • Texting: Needs iprovement. The big bonuses    • Arts: He dances.    • Writing: No idea.    • Leader: He could be if he shaped-up.    • Good speaking voice: Oh heavens no.    • Looks: Not so much.    • Dresses well: Yes.    • Sports: Basketball? The big questions    • Together: I'd like to say pwede, but no.    • Holding hands: Err... Not so much.    • Friends: Just to my close the ones in Church.    • Parents: I don't think so. He has a lot of work to do.
So why did I cross him out? Ultimately for requirement number 1 which seems to be something he obviously has issues with. Worthy is not the best word for him at the moment. 'Nuff said.
Guy #2: The Mysterious I was honestly impressed with this guy at first (you'll see why below). I already labeled him a prospect actually. Take note: prospect - not crush. There's something about him that I find kinda off. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something "wrong" with this one.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: No doubt about that.    • Maturity: Seems like it naman.    • Gentleman: Yes.    • At ease: Steady.    • Smart: I saw that he had awards in either his HS or College grad.    • Masipag: According to sources, yes.    • English: I thought yes, but then his last message was just... Bad.    • Physically fit: He's a little too big for me.    • Kayang mangontra: He looks too nice to do that.    • Texting: not applicable The big bonuses    • Arts: He dances (according to my friend).    • Writing: No idea.    • Leader: Looks like it.    • Good speaking voice: Yes.    • Looks: Not bad.    • Dresses well: Needs improvement na lang.    • Sports: No idea. The big questions    • Together: Honestly, no.    • Holding hands: No.    • Friends: Yes.    • Parents: Probably.
See how off this guy is? I mean, I answer yes and probably to the last two questions, but I can't see myself in a relationship with this guy. May something talaga eh. And I crossed him out of my list basically because I there's something off about him (that I can't tell what) and the wrong English I guess.
Guy #3: The Hopeless Romantic Now this is a guy I've really liked since last term. He's my classmate and I've told my friends, Jill and Frances, a million times over "ang cute cute niya talaga" plus a lot more of his good qualities.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: No... He's a Christian though.    • Maturity: NO (I'll explain in a bit).    • Gentleman: Yes. He forgets hims manners sometimes though.    • At ease: Yes.    • Smart: YES.    • Masipag: He said it himself - he's lazy.    • English: Definitely.    • Physically fit: He's a little on the short side, but he doesn't smoke.    • Kayang mangontra: Yeah :))    • Texting: Not applicable yet, but we exchanged numbers na kanina. The big bonuses    • Arts: No clue.    • Writing: He's a sentimental man, so I guess he can.    • Leader: Pwede.    • Good speaking voice: Fair.    • Looks: VERY CUTE :D    • Dresses well: YES :D    • Sports: Table Tennis The big questions    • Together: If he weren't Chinese, it could work.    • Holding hands: Maybe XD    • Friends: Yes.    • Parents: If my dad gets over his racism, then yes :))
Yes, I crossed this good great catch off my list. And why?
This afternoon, I got to hang-out with him and discovered he wasn't "all that". He told us about how he and his ex-girlfriend broke up when he was in first year and how they're good friends at the moment even if the girl knows that he likes her. What's creepy, according to Jill, is that Mr. Hopeless Romantic is still courting his ex TWO YEARS after the break-up. Jill and I were thinking that 2 years is a little too long to wait, isn't it? Besides, they had a past already. If it's done, then it's done. And another thing. He's young! At this stage in our lives, we should allow ourselves to explore our options.
Don't get me wrong. I wasn't devastated or something by what I heard that's why I switched to get-over-that-guy mode so quickly, I just thought he's too fixated on his farfetched fantasies that he's forgetting to keep his feet on the ground.
I just have this personal philosophy that keeping ourselves exclusive to just one person might even make us miss what's better and right before our eyes (speaking from experience), and it's these missed opportunities we end up regretting. You're either engaged already or plain dumb if you don't allow yourself to explore your options. That's why I don't really think it's wise for teens to enter relationships at a young age. As long as you're not tying the knot any time soon, you're free. Everyone has the right to find what's best for them, after all.
Pero malay mo naman. This guy might be right. I haven't met the girl yet, after all. Maybe they were able to bring back the old spark somehow. Maybe. We'll see.
SO THAT'S IT. I just amused myself with all this. haha~ Oh gosh I know I'm going to be laughing at this a few months from now XD
