Wallflower (wall·flow·er)
Definition
- One who does not participate in the activity at a social event because of shyness or unpopularity.
- A lady at a ball, who, either from choice, or because not asked to dance, remains a spectator.
As the term suggests, I shy away from a lot of things, parties and balls/dances being top 1 and top 2 respectively.
I'm a small girl you won't probably notice in a crowd. On top of that, I'm a natural klutz, the holder of a seemingly record-breaking list of misplaced items, an amateur anything, and an over-thinker who oftentimes lets her head rule her heart.
I'm still normal okay, don't get me wrong. haha... I'm a kid at heart who is easily pleased with simple things. One who carries a pinch of optimism, a tinkling of charm, and loads of laughs. I'm still trying to find my place in this vast expanse, but I'm having tons of fun along the way.
I'll find that light someday, I'm sure! But for now, I'll slow things down a bit and enjoy the ride.
My life's not the most spectacular thing that you'll come across, but it's worth a look :)

3 GUYS OFF MY LIST IN THIS MONTH ALONE. Why did the turnover rate of guys in my lame excuse for a love life suddenly speed up by 10 times? This is seriously stupid.
Before I start ranting away how my love life has seemed to hit an all-time low, let me present you with a checklist I've never really written down, only mentioned, until today. It's a list of the qualities of my ideal guy.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves (most important first)    • Is he a worthy Priesthood holder? (specifically the Word of Wisdom)    • Am I at ease when I'm around him? (includes sense of humor)    • Is he a gentleman?    • Is he mature? (I'm the eldest of 3, no more big babies please)    • Is he smart?    • Is he masipag? (hard working)    • Does he speak English FLUENTLY?    • Is he physically fit?    • Kaya ba niya akong kontrahin? (doesn't become the underdog)    • Does he text nicely? (I'm OC and I HATE sticky caps) The big bonuses (most impressive first)    • Does he have any talent in the arts?    • Can he write well?    • Is he a good leader?    • Does he have a good speaking voice?    • Does he look good?    • Does he dress well?    • Can he play any sport? The big questions (all of equal importance)    • Do I think we look good together?    • Can you imagine yourself holding this guy’s hand?    • Can he ride on with my friends?    • Can you actually introduce this guy to your parents?
In short, I want a guy who's kinda like my ultimate idol, my dad :) I'm really proud of my dad and I'd hate to disappoint him with a bad choice in men. haha!
BEFORE YOU GO ON READING... I'd like to clarify just one thing. It's a given that many of us ladies want romantic guys. You know, the type who isn't "afraid" of chick flicks or crying his eyes out. It's a given and ladies LOVE that, so I didn't put it in the list anymore. I don't want an overly-cheesy guy though. haha~
Okay, shall we begin? *deep breath*
Guy #1: The Clueless Actually I'm the one who's clueless because I don't know why I even liked him in the first place. The thing with this guy is I only like him when I see him. When I don't, the feelings just vanish. I can name plenty (believe me, plenty) of things that should automatically cross him out of my list for good, but there's just something about this guy that I'm drawn to. I repeat: only when I see him. When I don't, he's just another guy.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: Needs work. A lot of it.    • Maturity: Not so much.    • Gentleman: Okay naman.    • At ease: Definitely :)    • Smart: No clue. Only that he's taking a computer course.    • Masipag: He looks lazy, pero malay mo naman diba.    • English: No. He knows a bit though.    • Physically fit: I think so.    • Kayang mangontra: I think he can :))    • Texting: Needs iprovement. The big bonuses    • Arts: He dances.    • Writing: No idea.    • Leader: He could be if he shaped-up.    • Good speaking voice: Oh heavens no.    • Looks: Not so much.    • Dresses well: Yes.    • Sports: Basketball? The big questions    • Together: I'd like to say pwede, but no.    • Holding hands: Err... Not so much.    • Friends: Just to my close the ones in Church.    • Parents: I don't think so. He has a lot of work to do.
So why did I cross him out? Ultimately for requirement number 1 which seems to be something he obviously has issues with. Worthy is not the best word for him at the moment. 'Nuff said.
Guy #2: The Mysterious I was honestly impressed with this guy at first (you'll see why below). I already labeled him a prospect actually. Take note: prospect - not crush. There's something about him that I find kinda off. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something "wrong" with this one.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: No doubt about that.    • Maturity: Seems like it naman.    • Gentleman: Yes.    • At ease: Steady.    • Smart: I saw that he had awards in either his HS or College grad.    • Masipag: According to sources, yes.    • English: I thought yes, but then his last message was just... Bad.    • Physically fit: He's a little too big for me.    • Kayang mangontra: He looks too nice to do that.    • Texting: not applicable The big bonuses    • Arts: He dances (according to my friend).    • Writing: No idea.    • Leader: Looks like it.    • Good speaking voice: Yes.    • Looks: Not bad.    • Dresses well: Needs improvement na lang.    • Sports: No idea. The big questions    • Together: Honestly, no.    • Holding hands: No.    • Friends: Yes.    • Parents: Probably.
See how off this guy is? I mean, I answer yes and probably to the last two questions, but I can't see myself in a relationship with this guy. May something talaga eh. And I crossed him out of my list basically because I there's something off about him (that I can't tell what) and the wrong English I guess.
Guy #3: The Hopeless Romantic Now this is a guy I've really liked since last term. He's my classmate and I've told my friends, Jill and Frances, a million times over "ang cute cute niya talaga" plus a lot more of his good qualities.
THE CHECKLIST The must-haves    • Priesthood: No... He's a Christian though.    • Maturity: NO (I'll explain in a bit).    • Gentleman: Yes. He forgets hims manners sometimes though.    • At ease: Yes.    • Smart: YES.    • Masipag: He said it himself - he's lazy.    • English: Definitely.    • Physically fit: He's a little on the short side, but he doesn't smoke.    • Kayang mangontra: Yeah :))    • Texting: Not applicable yet, but we exchanged numbers na kanina. The big bonuses    • Arts: No clue.    • Writing: He's a sentimental man, so I guess he can.    • Leader: Pwede.    • Good speaking voice: Fair.    • Looks: VERY CUTE :D    • Dresses well: YES :D    • Sports: Table Tennis The big questions    • Together: If he weren't Chinese, it could work.    • Holding hands: Maybe XD    • Friends: Yes.    • Parents: If my dad gets over his racism, then yes :))
Yes, I crossed this good great catch off my list. And why?
This afternoon, I got to hang-out with him and discovered he wasn't "all that". He told us about how he and his ex-girlfriend broke up when he was in first year and how they're good friends at the moment even if the girl knows that he likes her. What's creepy, according to Jill, is that Mr. Hopeless Romantic is still courting his ex TWO YEARS after the break-up. Jill and I were thinking that 2 years is a little too long to wait, isn't it? Besides, they had a past already. If it's done, then it's done. And another thing. He's young! At this stage in our lives, we should allow ourselves to explore our options.
Don't get me wrong. I wasn't devastated or something by what I heard that's why I switched to get-over-that-guy mode so quickly, I just thought he's too fixated on his farfetched fantasies that he's forgetting to keep his feet on the ground.
I just have this personal philosophy that keeping ourselves exclusive to just one person might even make us miss what's better and right before our eyes (speaking from experience), and it's these missed opportunities we end up regretting. You're either engaged already or plain dumb if you don't allow yourself to explore your options. That's why I don't really think it's wise for teens to enter relationships at a young age. As long as you're not tying the knot any time soon, you're free. Everyone has the right to find what's best for them, after all.
Pero malay mo naman. This guy might be right. I haven't met the girl yet, after all. Maybe they were able to bring back the old spark somehow. Maybe. We'll see.
SO THAT'S IT. I just amused myself with all this. haha~ Oh gosh I know I'm going to be laughing at this a few months from now XD

I'm in class right now. It's a free cut though, so my Psych classmates found this game in Facebook called Click Challenge and we've been playing for about 30 minutes now. We just click the mouse for 30 seconds and see how many clicks we'll be able to make. It's so hard! Got tired after a few tries, high score of 252. Current top scorer is Bonn at 297. He would have made it to 300 if he didn't stop for a second to change hands. Napapagod din pala siya noh. haha~
It's the first time I've talked to my classmates like this. We had the computer lab to ourselves and were laughing the whole time. It's nice being able to do that with them, sana maulit :) Thank you Facebook!

My friend sent me a link to this article. Two cases of H1N1 already. Alarming. This might have appeared on the news already, but I haven't really been watching the news on TV regularly lately. ***
Associated Press 2009-05-24 02:02 PM The Philippines confirmed its second case of swine flu Sunday, and health officials said 15 other people were undergoing tests for the virus. A 50-year-old woman from Chicago tested positive for the virus over the weekend, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III told a news conference. She arrived from the United States Wednesday and went to a hospital the next day, complaining of a headache and mild fever. It was not clear from Duque’s comments whether the woman was a Filipino or a naturalized American. The woman was treated with the antiviral drug Tamiflu and was rapidly recovering in a hospital, he said. Eleven relatives, whom she visited in the Philippines, have been advised to stay at home for 10 days to see if they develop flu symptoms. All those she came in contact with during her flight to Manila were being traced, he said. “We’re stepping up our preparedness. We have been working around the clock,” said Duque, who arrived Sunday from Geneva where he attended a World Health Organization meeting on ways to contain the spread of swine flu. Despite the two swine flu cases, there has been no sign of a local outbreak in the Philippines, Duque said. He said a 10-year-old girl, who became the country’s first swine flu case last week, has almost fully recovered and could be discharged from the hospital soon. Relatives of the girl who arrived in the country last week from the U.S. and Canada remain under quarantine, he said. About 15 other people undergoing tests had recently returned from trips abroad, Duque said. The World Health Organization says over 12,000 cases of swine flu and 86 deaths have been reported in 42 countries. More than half of those cases have been reported in the United States, while most of the deaths occurred in Mexico. The virus was first detected last month. Labels: health/nature

Hello hello :D Haven't updated my blog in the longest time! had to fix my layout. Do you like it? I spent 3 freakin' days with only three hours of sleep just to finish it. haha~ Anyway. My summer "vacation's" nearing it's end. I'm going back to school tomorrow. Sad :( I don't want to go back to school just yet. I've hardly had any time to relax because I've been busy the whole summer - some vacation. What have I been up to? First, the MYC. Me plus my friends, Loveker and Jay-R, were tasked to teach a dance to 200 youth participants in Church. We taught the chourus of "We're All In This Together" and "I Don't Dance", but the youth of our ward danced even the first verse. It was Kuya Edu who came up with the steps for the dance, by the way, Thank you Kuya Edu! :) Both the preparations and the actual performance day of this dance had its drama too (I cried a lot actually). I had fun, but I'm kinda thankful that it's over. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY SUMMER: I SAW DAVID ARCHULETA! Both David Cook and David Archuleta were here in Manila for their concert last May 16. in Mall of Asia. It was the first ever major concert I've been to in my life and I enjoyed every millisecond of it! David Archuleta opened with "Touch My Hand". He looked sooo cute that night! I had a major fangirl attack when he came out :)) David Cook was awesome too! There was a part when he actually went down to the titanium ticket area and took pictures using the camera of someone in the audience. He even threw his guitar pick to the audience. Lucky fans! Oh yeah! I was supposed to meet both Davids TWICE - before and after the concert. A childhood friend of me and my brothers, Josh de Leon, offered us a ride to the concert. After meeting up, Josh told us we could get us backstage and into the afterparty. I was thrilled when I heard the news! HOWEVER. Some really, really, really, things that were EXTREMELY uncalled for happened, so we weren't able to meet the Davids on either time :( I felt very bad on the way home... I could have had a terrific birthday if I'd gotten a picture and an autograph of David Archuleta. Sayang talaga. It took me a while to get over this actually. *sigh* Oh well... OH! And Archie went to our temple too! He didn't just visit - he even attended a proxy session. He's such a good kid XD Kuya Sam told us he shook hands with David too. He's so lucky! He also told me the he went to the MTC too. Pinagkaguluhan daw siya doon, even Kuya Ricky told me :)) The temple's 15 minutes away from our house, why didn't any of them text me? Waaah. haha~ I'll catch him next time, I swear! So enough of the Archufever. Moving on. I attended my first ever Stake Single Adult Camp last week. My friends, Hazel and Loveker (we missed Kat!), were there as well. It was their first time too. It was a different experience from any Youth Conference I've ever attended. I was actually shy in this one. haha! We had an Amazing Race game from the Rosario Chapel to the Camp Site in Sierra Madre. The tasks were laughable and I enjoyed doing them even if our group ended up picking up trash in one part of the race because we couldn't get a freakin' 95 in the videoke machine :)) When all the groups finally got there, we set-up the tents and prepared our dinner. Here's the catch: no gas allowed. We cooked rice and adobo in bamboo that I could fit my whole hand and half my arm. It was so coooool! The bamboo was then surrounded by sticks and dry grass (that we went looking for, byt the way) then set on fire to cook our food. We all smelled like smoke after that, but it was all good :) At nagkamay ako nung kainan, take note! haha~ Then there was the Hawaiian-themed dance social. There was a game before the dancing. Each of us were given pieces of paper with numbers on them and we were to find our partners. I honestly grew weak in the knees when I found out that it was going to be like this. I hated S.A. dance socials because it's so... I dunno, temple marriage centered? Kuya Edu even called me to the mic to ask the purpose of dance socials and I simply said "to mingle". He asked me if there was a deeper purpose and I said I didn't know. The answer he wanted to hear was obviously "for us to meet an eternal parter who blah blah blah dot dot dot...", but I couldn't get myself to say it. That statement coming from me is like... Err yuck. I mean, HELLO?! I'm nineteen! :)) Well anyway... I curled myself up on Ate Me-an's lap and was like "Ate Me-an ayoko ng ganito, nakakatakot! Sa'yo na lang number ko!". Oh gosh that was so adolescent X_X She didn't take my "generous offer" because she had her own, BUT! Luckily, I was paired with Kuya Jared (he's been my "Kuya" since I was born)! Woohoo! It was like the Heavens opened and I could hear the angels singing Alleluia! So it was another gossip session plus making fun of other people. HAHA! We eventually became a big group who danced together, made it less uncomfortable for my fellow first-timers as well. I eventually got over the fear of guys later on though. A ng useless ng drama ko. haha! Then after that we all jumped in the pool at the same time. THE WATER WAS FREEZING. Loveker, Hazel, and I stayed for some time because of Kuya Mike and Mar though. Kwentuhan plus swimming lessons. We had a midnight snack too care of someone Kuya Jared calls Bok (I dunno his real name). Inihaaaw <3 Then of course there's the juicy part - kwentuhan with my friends plus Ate Hiyas. Not gonna put all the details, but I can tell you that our spiritual sides conqured us that night. Made me think a lot about my priorities in life and about the temple as well. Gets niyo na yun. haha~ The spirit was overwhelming, and it felt good. The next morning, we hiked. Gosh the trail was so narrow, steep, and slippery! Our leaders were even having second thoughts on whether we should go or not, but we went anyway. We had only a rope to hold on. We could fall off the cliff if we didn't hold on to it. Thankfully, we're all still alive. haha... After that hot, tiring hike, President and Sister Solancho talked about guess what - Temple Marriage (*sound of cheering crowd + sarcasm here*) during the devotional. But despite my childish behavior toward this topic, think Temple Marriage started to sink in at that very moment. I'm not getting any younger and if I planned to get married at 24 or 25, that's not very far away. Oh gosh. This experience has been one of the most life-changing ones for me. It's given me the space I need to think about the bigger things and really think of my priorities. Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh. I really think it's time to talk this over with the Big Man up there now. Well anyway, that's about it. I have classes tomorrow. I'll try to update more regularly :) Night! Labels: church, reality check, star struck
