Hello hello :D Haven't updated my blog in the longest time! had to fix my layout. Do you like it? I spent 3 freakin' days with only three hours of sleep just to finish it. haha~
Anyway. My summer "vacation's" nearing it's end. I'm going back to school tomorrow. Sad :( I don't want to go back to school just yet. I've hardly had any time to relax because I've been busy the whole summer - some vacation.
What have I been up to?
First, the MYC. Me plus my friends, Loveker and Jay-R, were tasked to teach a dance to 200 youth participants in Church. We taught the chourus of "We're All In This Together" and "I Don't Dance", but the youth of our ward danced even the first verse. It was Kuya Edu who came up with the steps for the dance, by the way, Thank you Kuya Edu! :) Both the preparations and the actual performance day of this dance had its drama too (I cried a lot actually). I had fun, but I'm kinda thankful that it's over.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY SUMMER: I SAW DAVID ARCHULETA! Both David Cook and David Archuleta were here in Manila for their concert last May 16. in Mall of Asia. It was the first ever major concert I've been to in my life and I enjoyed every millisecond of it! David Archuleta opened with
"Touch My Hand". He looked sooo cute that night! I had a major fangirl attack when he came out :)) David Cook was awesome too! There was a part when he actually went down to the titanium ticket area and took pictures using the camera of someone in the audience. He even threw his guitar pick to the audience. Lucky fans!
Oh yeah! I was supposed to meet both Davids TWICE - before and after the concert. A childhood friend of me and my brothers, Josh de Leon, offered us a ride to the concert. After meeting up, Josh told us we could get us backstage and into the afterparty. I was thrilled when I heard the news! HOWEVER. Some really, really, really, things that were EXTREMELY uncalled for happened, so we weren't able to meet the Davids on either time :( I felt very bad on the way home... I could have had a terrific birthday if I'd gotten a picture and an autograph of David Archuleta.
Sayang talaga. It took me a while to get over this actually.
*sigh* Oh well...
OH! And Archie went to our temple too! He didn't just visit - he even attended a proxy session. He's such a good kid XD Kuya Sam told us he shook hands with David too. He's so lucky! He also told me the he went to the MTC too.
Pinagkaguluhan daw siya doon, even Kuya Ricky told me :)) The temple's 15 minutes away from our house, why didn't any of them text me? Waaah. haha~ I'll catch him next time, I swear!
So enough of the Archufever. Moving on.
I attended my first ever Stake Single Adult Camp last week. My friends, Hazel and Loveker (we missed Kat!), were there as well. It was their first time too. It was a different experience from any Youth Conference I've ever attended. I was actually shy in this one. haha!
We had an Amazing Race game from the Rosario Chapel to the Camp Site in Sierra Madre. The tasks were laughable and I enjoyed doing them even if our group ended up picking up trash in one part of the race because we couldn't get a freakin' 95 in the videoke machine :))
When all the groups finally got there, we set-up the tents and prepared our dinner. Here's the catch: no gas allowed. We cooked rice and adobo in bamboo that I could fit my whole hand and half my arm. It was so coooool! The bamboo was then surrounded by sticks and dry grass (that we went looking for, byt the way) then set on fire to cook our food. We all smelled like smoke after that, but it was all good :)
At nagkamay ako nung kainan, take note! haha~
Then there was the Hawaiian-themed dance social. There was a game before the dancing. Each of us were given pieces of paper with numbers on them and we were to find our partners. I honestly grew weak in the knees when I found out that it was going to be like this. I hated S.A. dance socials because it's so... I dunno, temple marriage centered? Kuya Edu even called me to the mic to ask the purpose of dance socials and I simply said "to mingle". He asked me if there was a deeper purpose and I said I didn't know. The answer he wanted to hear was obviously "for us to meet an eternal parter who blah blah blah dot dot dot...", but I couldn't get myself to say it. That statement coming from me is like... Err yuck. I mean, HELLO?! I'm nineteen! :)) Well anyway... I curled myself up on Ate Me-an's lap and was like
"Ate Me-an ayoko ng ganito, nakakatakot! Sa'yo na lang number ko!". Oh gosh that was so adolescent X_X She didn't take my "generous offer" because she had her own, BUT! Luckily, I was paired with Kuya Jared (he's been my "Kuya" since I was born)! Woohoo! It was like the Heavens opened and I could hear the angels singing Alleluia! So it was another gossip session plus making fun of other people. HAHA! We eventually became a big group who danced together, made it less uncomfortable for my fellow first-timers as well. I eventually got over the fear of guys later on though. A
ng useless ng drama ko. haha!
Then after that we all jumped in the pool at the same time. THE WATER WAS FREEZING. Loveker, Hazel, and I stayed for some time because of Kuya Mike and Mar though. Kwentuhan plus swimming lessons. We had a midnight snack too care of someone Kuya Jared calls Bok (I dunno his real name).
Inihaaaw <3
Then of course there's the juicy part -
kwentuhan with my friends plus Ate Hiyas. Not gonna put all the details, but I can tell you that our spiritual sides conqured us that night. Made me think a lot about my priorities in life and about the temple as well.
Gets niyo na yun. haha~ The spirit was overwhelming, and it felt good.
The next morning, we hiked. Gosh the trail was so narrow, steep, and slippery! Our leaders were even having second thoughts on whether we should go or not, but we went anyway. We had only a rope to hold on. We could fall off the cliff if we didn't hold on to it. Thankfully, we're all still alive. haha...
After that hot, tiring hike, President and Sister Solancho talked about guess what - Temple Marriage (*sound of cheering crowd + sarcasm here*) during the devotional. But despite my childish behavior toward this topic, think Temple Marriage started to sink in at that very moment. I'm not getting any younger and if I planned to get married at 24 or 25, that's not very far away. Oh gosh. This experience has been one of the most life-changing ones for me. It's given me the space I need to think about the bigger things and
really think of my priorities. Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh. I really think it's time to talk this over with the Big Man up there now.
Well anyway, that's about it. I have classes tomorrow. I'll try to update more regularly :) Night!
